When it comes to Thai food restaurants, there is no exception. Their menus are filled with traditional Thai foods that are cooked by Thai people who learned to cook in their native land. Most of these restaurants even offer delivery services, so that people can just call up the restaurant and order the food they want. If you have never eaten Thai food then you will probably need to see a menu first, so that you will know what to order. A lot of the dishes have ingredients that you are probably familiar with, but in Thai they are called specific names. For example, if you want to eat fried rice with shrimp then you would have to order Khao Phat Kung from the menu. Now you may be able to find Thai restaurants that let you order in English, but there are still some Thai dishes that require you to know their Thai name when ordering. The Thai salad dish “Som Tam” is very similar salad called “Tam Mak Hoong.” So, if you were just describing the ingredients in English then the cook may get confused as to what you want. That is why it helps to get a menu from a Thai restaurant a head of time, so that you can simply order from it on the phone.
After you place your order with the waiter, they will prepare it and someone will deliver it to you on bike. In most Asian cultures, the delivery people like to ride their motorbike to a customer’s residence because it allows them to bypass a lot of the busy city traffic. So in actuality, riding a bike can be a faster mode of transportation when traveling within a big city like Singapore. Of course, you should always pick the nearest restaurant that is closest to your residence. If you pick one on the other side of the city then you will either get rejected or force the delivery person to endure a long trip. For that, you should make sure to give them a good tip because they will remember your gratitude the next time you order from them. They may even get your food delivered faster if they know you are a good tipper.
